Phnom Penh, 18 July 2024: Cambodia has secured three medals, including one silver and two bronze, at the 2nd International Indonesia Pencak Silat Open Championship 2024 held in Indonesia.

Chhim Rachat earned a silver medal in the 50-55 kg category, while Nun Sramoach Krahorm and Ponleu Pichmorokot each won a bronze medal in the under 45 kg and 85-90 kg events, respectively.

The tournament, which took place from July 10 to 17, attracted the participation of 4,000 athletes. Cambodia was represented by 14 athletes, led by Andy Steven, Vice President of the Pencak Silat Federation of Cambodia.

This marks the first time that the Cambodia Pencak Silat Federation has sent athletes to participate in such a tournament, as the federation was only established this year, according to Major General Seng Thearin, President of the Cambodia Pencak Silat Federation.

Major General Thearin stated that this participation provided a valuable opportunity for Cambodian athletes to enhance their skills in preparation for the forthcoming SEA Games 2025 in Thailand.
